Let's Get Involved
Every 3 or 4 months 2 Newcomer sessions are offered to orient visitors and guests as they become regular attendees or members of Atonement.
We celebrate 5 G’s as members of Atonement Lutheran Church, ELCA
- Grace: We are washed and nourished through God’s Word and Sacrement (in baptism and communion).
- Gather: We are inspired, embraced and sent by God’s Word (through regular worship).
- Give: Financially we tithe (give 10%) to and beyond Atonement
- Grow: Through Bible Study and Daily Quiet Time (DQT)
- Group: Be part of a ministry team for study, service and care.
Everyone finds at least one way to "help out," and over time is immersed in a deeper ministry "calling," in the community that is the church and/or beyond.
Everything begins with "Let’s Get Involved"
Everyone:
- Discovers his or her spiritual gifts
- Is invited into a group for friendship, study, support and serving
- Finds at least one way to "help out."
- Explores his or her calling for deeper ministry in the community and/or at church.
Stretch and Pray
Join the Stretch and Pray group as we meet every Tuesday morning at 8:30 am. The whole routine takes approximately 35 minutes. Each participant is encouraged to tailor their stretching program to those movements that can be done comfortably.
Quilters, Knit Wits and Prayer Shawl Ministries
Quilters Ministry: The Quilters meet the fourth Tuesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. Additional quilters and help in tying the knots on the quilts are needed. Filler, such as blankets, sheets, drapes and large pieces of material (NO synthetic materials) may be donated. These quilts are then displayed on the pews on Thank Offering Sunday and then packed and shipped to countries designated by Lutheran World Relief.
Knit-Wits Ministry: If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, join Knit-Wits! Our meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 12:30 pm.
Prayer Shawl Ministry: The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in Room 201 at church. We meet for fellowship and conversation as we create these beautiful prayer shawls with prayers for peace and healing for those in need. These prayer shawls have been received as a treasured gift by people in their time of trial and reminds them that they are cared about by this community of Christians and God himself. This is a vital and on-going ministry and all are welcome to participate.
Financial donations for yarn supplies to support the Knit Wits and/or Prayer Shawl Ministry are greatly appreciated. Simply make your check payable to WELCA, designating Prayer Shawls and/or Knit Wits on the memo line, and place in the offering basket or church office. If you have yarn that you don't have a use for, we promise to create something useful from that as well.
