Outreach
We participate in many ministries to help our local community including All Peoples Church (ELCA-Milwaukee), Habitat for Humanity, Hope Center, and much more.
Globally, we are deeply involved with Fair Trade (coffee, chocolate, tea) distribution, Lutheran Word Relief quilts, school kits, health kits, layettes, etc. We also support over 35 children with scholarships to attend school in Tepeagua, El Salvador.
Volunteering Opportunities
No opportunities are available at the current time.
In Our Community
All People's Church
As a congregation we do many collections throughout the year for All People's Church. Twice yearly we have giving trees to collect needed items. We participate in Kids Alive Wednesday Nights where we serve dinner and help tutor school age children. We also collect school supplies and assemble holiday baskets for members of All People's Church.
Habitat for Humanity
We support our local community by participating at least once a year in the Habitat for Humanity efforts along with contributions from our members.
Hope Center
Food and Clothing Drives – Incorporated in 1987, Hope Center is a non-profit ministry located in downtown Waukesha serving homeless and low income persons throughout Waukesha County. Over 100 Waukesha County churches currently serve as member congregations of Hope Center, providing financial and volunteer support for Hope Center programs. Hope Center focuses primarily on providing for the physical needs of the poor. Anyone interested in helping out or has questions should contact Griselle Cruz at or 262-549-8726.
Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
Atonement supports and participates in this event—held at Muskego High School in June each year. Read more about this important annual event here.
Tee's to Dee's
Cleaning out the dresser and closet? Lots of old tee shirts? We could use them to make diapers with a little cutting and sewing. Not in the best shape? Funny colors or slogans (and maybe not so funny)? Sizes medium, large and extra large are the best. Please wash them thoroughly, mark them as "Tee's for D's" and place them in thebig blue bin which is placed under the WELCA bulletin board in fellowship hall on the third Sunday of each month. We will then meet on the following day starting at 12:30 at church to work on making the tee's. Thanks from all the babies that will get a fresh cloth diaper! PS - Diaper pins also welcome.

Around the World
Fair Trade
Mt. Meru Coffee and Fair Trade Products – Purchasing these products, coffee, tea and chocolate, from the farmers and cooperatives pay the farmers 3-4 times what they get paid from big for-profit companies. This give them a wage they can live on and also provides money to improve their businesses and communities and to send their children to school. These items may be purchased in the Narthex after church services on the second Sunday of each month.
Lutheran World Relief
Lutheran World Relief School Kits
Come help us send kids to school. The Mary/Martha bible study group is coordinating efforts to put together school kits for Lutheran World Relief. Help us by donating $5 per school kit or by purchasing school supplies on your own. Contact Dawn Engelking for more info. Supply lists can be found in the newsletter.
El Salvador
Atonement has a sister parish relationship with Spirit of Peace Lutheran Church in Tepeagua , El Salvador. They are members of The Lutheran Church of El Salvador. The purpose of this relationship is to be supportive of each other in ministry and to provoke greater awareness and learning about ministry opportunities and challenges in both El Salvador and Southeastern Wisconsin. Members of both congregations have made visits back and forth. Atonement provides scholarship money so that students in El Salvador can attend school. Opportunities abound for expanding this relationship in the future.
